Description

From the Hawaiian Collection of Mark Fragale. Constructed at 22774 Pacific Coast Highway or in a nearby garage, the address remains  significant;  the location is on the beach side of PCH within eyesight/earshot of the fabled Surfrider Beach at Malibu.  Ultra low production, built circa the mid 1950’s. The solid balsa core shaped surfboard was laminated using ‘sun cure’ resin, utilizing cobalt, as the catalyst… this before chemically activated MEK peroxide hardeners came to be.  Such is clearly identified by the honey colored, clear, unpolished finish. Dave Goodart was also known to have been in a surfboard building partnership with Jack Lamoureux.  Among Tom Morey’s, Baby Dave Rochlan’s first surfboards was a Goodart balsa similar to this offering. Historically significant, this surfboard hails from Malibu’s hallowed grounds before the introduction of urethane foam cores and contemporary fiberglass materials.

This Goodart surfboard was purchased from its original owner at the Mike Miggs Surf Auction in 2000.  A rare opportunity to purchase this board from its second owner.  Location in Hawaii
