Description

FIRST TIME ON THE AUCTION BLOCK!!!   Absolutely stunning!!  Restored back to its original color combination in striking Ferrari red panels and rails, and its huge black glassed on fin is a tell-tale sign of its age.  This Rhino Chaser has a solid 1.5 inch redwood stringer to endure the strength for big waves at Pipeline.  The clear bright foam around the stringer shows no signs of stress making this Greg Noll Big Wave Gun Museum quality.  Greg Noll quotes, “ The more paint around the stringer, or competition stripes being added, was a way to hide stress cracks”, pg 82 in the “Art of a Surfboard”. This beautiful historical piece was one of Greg Noll’s Team rider boards.  You can see Jose Angel riding the original color set up on pg 81 in “The Art of the Surfboard”. It was later owned by Kip Okamoto and was restored by Kip and Master Craftsman Randy Rarick, decades ago.  The board was found  15 years ago at Surf and Sea Surf Shop in Haleiwa, Hawaii and made its way to the East Coast to a private collector. From the Mike Miggs Collection.
