HOLY GRAIL ALERT! FIRST TIME ON THE AUCTION BLOCK! PART OF THE “SUMMER OF 66 NOSERIDING SERIES”
We are so fortunate to bring to you a Bing David Nuuhiwa Nose rider in pristine condition. This board has been completely refurbished and features a new logo and laminate comp band provided by Bing Copeland himself, then re-glossed and polished to perfection. This board has been ridden but shows very little wear. David Nuuhiwa himself signed the deck of the board as part of the preparation for the auction. It has a glassed on red fin with a high-density foam tail block with a red outline matching the fin. It has a center five band Stringer cluster with the serial # 6389 on the balsa with a matching birth certificate. This board was made for the Bing Surf Shop in California on October 19, 1966. There is a similar board with the same color comp band and design in Bing’s book on page 93 that was used in one of their advertisements. Bing also quotes on page 49, “ The David Nuuhiwa Noseridring model was distinctive in both design and aesthetic. The Noseriders were the last boards made with 10 – ounce fiberglass (two layers on the top and bottom) weighing in around 30 -32lbs”, although this board weighs in just under 30lbs. A similar board design like this, with the distinctive tear drop concave nose was used in Randy Rarick’s recently released design project “Summer of 66”, making this design one of the best Nose Riders ever produced. This board comes to us from a Private highly regarded California Collector. With a very conservative reserve, bid with pride, bid with pleasure, but don’t let this one get away because you never know if you will ever see one this clean again. Good luck!!
