Description

HOLY GRAIL ALERT!   CULTURALLY AND HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT!  EXTREMELY RARE!

A HAND SHAPED GREG NOLL, “GEORGE DOWNING MODEL” FULL ON ELEPHANT GUN!

We are so fortunate to bring to you this Greg Noll, George Downing Elephant gun with an extremely pulled in tail.  This board is a hand-crafted work of art and is one of the rarest boards in the world.  In the book, “The Ultimate Guide to Vintage Surfboards and Collectibles”, you will see this board featured on pg 273. And it quotes, “Ultra -scarce Greg Noll George Downing model 10’9 pintail gun from 1967.  George downing only shaped 11 of these, and its unknown how few exist.  This important specimen is, without question, one of the most significant guns ever built.”  Here at Surf Legends, we only know of three left in existence.  This board is all original with dings professionally repaired, repairs done to the nose, which is obvious then polished.  These repair jobs are assumed to be done in the late 60’s.

This ultra-rare extremely pulled in Elephant gun was made for the deep waves at Waimea at the North Shore of Hawaii.  With Greg Noll's obsession for riding the biggest waves he could find; George Downing came up with this design in late 1967 to help Greg with his ambitions.   The Ultimate Guide to Vintage Surfboards has this board valued at $30,000 - $35,000 so we think our pre-auction estimate is extremely conservative at $17,500 - $25,000.  Here is your chance to own one of the rarest boards in the world at NO RESERVE!!  From the words of Brodhi in Point Break, “This is a once in lifetime opportunity man”. Good luck.
