Description:   SOUGHT AFTER SIGNATURE MODEL COLLECTIBLE!  

Phil Edwards regarded by many as the “Gentleman Surfer” and “The best Surfer in the world”.  No wonder The Hobie label wanted Phil to be part of their team and put his signature model on their label.  That’s exactly what we have here is a triple redwood stringer with the off centered silver Hobie Phil Edwards Signature model logo #981.  The deck is amazing and polished to a condition 9.5.  Although the bottom is watertight, there is some brown stains that are not pleasing to the eye.   The fin is American blue outlined in white telling us it’s a later version of the Phil Edwards model.   The earlier models had mahogany wooden D fins.  When having a board like this, it’s the deck you want to display, so fortunately for us this one is near mint.

In the book. “The Ultimate Guide to Vintage Surfboards and Collectibles” on pg 108, there is a similar board #103 at 9’9 estimated value at $5k - $7k, so we think our estimate is quite conservative.   Also quoted from the book “ The special endorsed surfboard was advertised on the inside cover of Surfer Magazine in full color,…… The ad was by far the most lavish and expensive surfboard advertisement ever”.  This classic board is 100% original and at NO RESERVE!!!  Best of luck to all the bidders.
