Let’s talk about the surfboard first shall we, then we’ll talk about the painting.  This is an Atlantis Surfboard with single removable fin from the 1970’s shaped by Mark Castlow.  Mark started shaping surfboards at the age 16 in the 70’s and is no stranger to the Southeast coast of Florida.

Now, let’s talk about the Mermaid painting J   The artist is “Mark A. Chavez OR Chaves” and is numbered 1/80 as you see the signature in the Mermaids hair.  We did some Google searches and came up with a few artists that match the description in the L.A. area but couldn’t pinpoint it to the exact artist and don’t want to make any assumptions or false claims.  We’re hoping as this painting circulates on the world wide web, we’ll get more info coming our way so we can get a better value of this beautiful Mermaid painting. The details are quite exquisite, exotic, and detailed.   Completely mesmerizing.   Hence the reason we gave the Mermaid a 10 out of 10. This work of art is up at no reserve and could be worth $1,000, $10,000 or even $100,000.  We just don’t know.  What we do know is that this was found at a surf shop in storage where it stayed for decades and it’s time for her to find a new home and be appreciated.    Good luck to all and happy bidding.
