Mike Hynson:    Shaper – Surfer – Surf Legend – The Endless Summer Icon!

Here is an extremely Rare Gordon and Smith HY II model with the classic Endless Summer logo.  This model had a very limited number made as it followed the HY I model.  The board is all yellow tint throughout with offset ¼ inch redwood stringers, and a glass on red fin matching the logo. By not having a center stringer the board is lighter for performance but still having strength and durability offered with the offset stringers.  A brilliant design for function, performance and durability.  This board was featured in the book “The Ultimate Guide for Vintage Surfboards and Collectibles” on pg. 118.   Its estimated value was $3,000 - $4,000 which we feel is slightly low due to the limited number of these classics made.   Would not be surprised to see this board go for slightly higher.    Mike Hynson rose to fame while starring in the movie “The Endless Summer”.  He went on to be one of America’s iconic surfboard design gurus and one of the most famous surfers in the world today.
