Description:    PURE BALSA – NOT CHAMBERED!  A TRUE CALIFORNIA BLONDE!

This Greg Noll balsa “50’s”California Beach Break was made in 1996 for the ASR show in San Diego.  Greg made two and both have been living in Hawaii ever since.  One is now here NJ making its debut for the auction and the other was made for the one and only, world class vintage surfboard historian, Mark Fragale.  The logo used on this board is very rare.  Look at it in detail, yes, it is the Camara man logo but without the oval circle.  When you look at Greg’s book, “The Art of the Surfboard” on pg. 166 this logo was represented in 1953 – 56.  The original owner of the board said, “Greg had these labels stashed away in his garage that was a first run lams and wanted to use one on this board”.  On pg. 55 you will see this exact logo with a quote from Guy Motil “The sophistication of this surfboard demonstrates the maturation of the art from that came about in the creation cauldron of the 1950’s”.  Take notice of the signature down at the tail.  Most say shaped by Greg and Jed Noll. With this board being one of the first Re-Creations that Greg made, only his signature is down by the tail saying “Hand shaped by Greg Noll”.  Capturing the 50’s look is the glass on multi redwood balsa fin with a halo outline completing the total essence of the California Beach Break.  There is a modest reserve on this board, but the value is far greater.  Bid with pride for this California beauty.  Good luck!
